Cunard had the Queen Mary into the 1950's. The Queen Mary was much much larger than the Titanic, which was one the Whitestar line.There were many smaller ships, smaller lines. For the steamship, the depth of the harbor had everything to do with what ships could dock there. Le Havre, France to Southhampton, Britian, to New York City, was a popular route during the Industrial Era immigration to the United States.
