Our matriarchal (female line) ancestors are often more difficult to document than our patriarchal (male). Women simply did not "count" in many records.Examples include baptismals that only have the child's father's name. Wills that cannot have included females because females were not allowed to inherit, and so much else that we now -for good reason- consider to be sexism.
