"I was born Feb. 12, 1809, in Hardin County, Kentucky. My parents were both born in Virginia, of undistinguished families--second families, perhaps I should say. My mother, who died in my tenth year, was of a family of the name of Hanks.... My father ... removed from Kentucky to ... Indiana, in my eighth year.... It was a wild region, with many bears and other wild animals still in the woods. There I grew up.... Of course when I came of age I did not know much. Still somehow, I could read, write, and cipher ... but that was all." ...
This article tells you the county and state Lincoln was born in and where his parents would also be found. (By the way, I've heard that the actor Tom Hanks is related to the Nancy Hanks family.)

"Questions regarding Obama's birth certificate have persisted for more than two years, as the president noted Wednesday at a press conference announcing the release of his long-form birth certificate. A vast array of evidence attests to Obama's citizenship--including a certificate of live birth, signed affidavits from people who viewed Obama's long-form birth certificate, confirmation by Hawaiian officials, and independent investigations by news outlets. Nevertheless, "this thing just keeps going" as Obama said this morning. Even after the White House released the long-form certificate of Obama's birth, birther leader Orly Taitz—who has filed unsuccessful lawsuits seeking to obtain access to Obama's birth certificate—sought to cast doubt on the document's authenticity, suggesting that in 1961, Hawaiian officials would have classified Obama as "Negro" rather than using designation "African," which suggests, in her view, a more contemporary concern for "political correctness." What surprises me most about this controversy is that it is occurring so far along in the President's term of office and is being used as a method by his opponents and competitors, to discredit him, even impeach him. IF THERE WERE EVER A QUESTION OF HIS BIRTH LOCATION, and QUALIFICATIONS it should have happened when he applied to run for President.
When there are adoptions, a second birth certificate is usually given to the adoptive parents, and the adopted child must reach adulthood to petition (variant by location) for the ORIGINAL BIRTH CERTIFICATE. But if the child grows to adulthood and is never told they are adopted, they may not have a clue (or interest) in searching for the ORIGINAL BIRTH CERTIFICATE. In addition, in many cases special circumstances may apply, such as if a child is born on a military base in another country or at an American Consulate, or while on a boat or aircraft ABOVE a country in which case the birth may be considered to be the place the parents are citizens, rather than the country they are flying over or from or to!
In many locations throughout the world, and in the United States, it was not required by civil law to have a birth certificate at all, or until after 1900. For instance, many births are ONLY RECORDED IN FAMILY BIBLES or, especially if there was a mid-wife delivering the child who may or may not have filed the birth for immigrant parents, and may or may not have been able to read or write or spell!
So Let's Leave our President Obama To Concentrate on his Job! The chances are he has never had any worry or concern over the circumstances of his birth in Hawaii, his multi-racial heritage, OR that he would be disqualified for Presidency. For good reason. He's honest.

FactCheck.org is here with the jpeg files you can see yourself, to decide if President Barach Obama's birth certificate is official. For about a year there have been rumors and "proofs" that he was actually born in Kenya or that something was amiss on the certificate from Hawaii.
Though being born an American Citizen is a requirement to run for the Presidency, and some famous immigrants have wished to change this, BIRTH CERTIFICATES WERE NOT A REQUIREMENT IN ALL STATES OF THE UNITED STATES all at once or even all that long ago. Applicants for Social Security, who were born in other countries, often proved their age by the baptismal records in church records, of their children, for instance. Our ancestors often kept their own accounting of their growing families by writing in the family's Holy Bible.

BARACK OBAMA NOW PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES
President Barack Obama is now President of the United States. I watched the signing in this morning, with a group of people, some also of African American heritage. So many of them told me they never thought they would see the day, meaning that in their lifetime they did not believe until it happened that the citizens of the United States would be willing to vote a Black man into the highest office.
There was a difference though. Obama's African heritage is recent. His father was from an African village in Kenya. His mother is an American of European heritage "White" and from Kansas originally. They must be so proud of their son. ( I say this aware they have both gone into the After-Life)
He does not have a genealogy of African slave ancestors brought to the United States (at the time a very different map than today's) against their will.

According to a New England Historical Genealogical Society article I read, there is a link between Obama and six U.S. Presidents - including George W. Bush! Obama is "cousins" with them! It really makes me wonder.
We are fascinated with the international favor that has been shed upon the United States due to this election. We have seen the news featuring people from nations around the world who share the notion that Americans have gone against prejudice with this election. At the same time it is our hope that race will not be an issue when it comes to making International policy.
Best Wishes to our new President! We wait and hope that wonderful changes are ahead!
