Can you believe that God created everything and evolution? I do. Perhaps God's plan was evolution. I recall from an anthropology class I took in college that about 40,000 years ago there was enough of a human population for ethnicity to develop.

BABY NAMES WILLIAM and ELIZABETH STANDS THE TEST OF TIME

Looking at the 2011 chart I see that many of the names for girls are not clearly feminine names.

COSTA CONCORDIA SHIPWRECK FROM SPACE and SHIPWRECK GENEALOGY
Linking here to the latest news on the COSTA CONCORDIA LUXURY CRUISE DISASTER which has truly been compelling news to watch. This link is to a Yahoo news story that includes photos taken from space.
I admit it! I'm even checking on this news when I wake up early or come home late.
You see, there are some ancestors I'm looking for who are said to have "gone down with the ship." What ship? When? This story is a sign that I should start that search over again.
When I tell my fellow researchers the story they always suggest first I should check the Titanic. Did you know that the Queen Mary, harbored in Long Beach, is much larger than the Titanic was in its time? No, it was not the Titanic. But a lot of ships were sunk besides the Titanic. Now here we are in 2012 and this is a massive ship in comparison to the Queen Mary - a floating luxury liner - and yet it seems the same problem of disembarking a sinking or threatened ship has occurred.
I know the Italian authorities have the Captain under house arrest and all the press reporting seems to have designed him a scoundrel. If you read a whole lot of reports on the Internet, however, you will come across some information that I do hope will be considered. That is that there is a computer on board that does much of the navigating and the electrical problem referred to may have prevented this computer from working. If so the Captain might have misinterpreted where they were. I do think also that trying to bring the ship as close to shore as possible was brilliant and I credit him. Also they say he deserted the ship because all of the passengers had not yet left, but the numbers who were not off yet were closer to 50 and thousands had already left. How would a Captain or anyone else really know that every last person was accounted for with so many passengers?
Depending on the tides the ship lies in between 45 and 60 feet of water. And it was very close to shore as the pictures show. I asked my friends if they thought they could swim to shore in that water and most of them said they thought they could. The ship was not out to sea and the cold would have been to them the problem rather than the depth of the water or the distance. It would be frightening but achievable. I think that I would try to swim it, though I'm not a robust swimmer.

SOLDIERS PHOTOGRAPH EVERY GRAVE IN ARLINGTON NATIONAL CEMETERY and SEARCHABLE DATABASE MAY RESULT
More than 300,000 people buried there... 219,000 grave markers... and a few messed up burials or confused records... so the Army decided to take a photographic inventory. This project may turn into a searchable database!
As someone who has a relative in Arlington, which came up on FindAGrave, I am feeling excited about the possibility of a comprehensive database.

POSTAL CLERK USES OBIT TO TRACES FAMILY TO DELIVER PICTURE OF DEAD HUSBAND 67 YEARS LATE

SPAIN MAY CHANGE SURNAME TRADITION TO END SEXIST NAME BIAS
"Spain's Socialist government has found a new place to push for gender equality, seeking to erase all vestiges of male bias from the country's double-barreled last names.
Spaniards have two surnames, and under current law for registering babies, either the father's or the mother's can come first. Traditionally, however, it is the dad's and in cases of disagreement among the parents, the father's name automatically takes priority."

114 YEAR OLD MAN CELEBRATES HIS BIRTHDAY TODAY !
"Walter Breuning was born on Sept. 21, 1896, in Melrose, Minn., and moved to Montana in 1918, where he worked as a clerk for the Great Northern Railway for 50 years.
Breuning was to give a speech at an invitation-only birthday party at the Rainbow Retirement Community in downtown Great Falls, where he lives, with a guest list that includes Montana Gov. Brian Schweitzer and representatives from Guinness World Records."

CLAIRE SUDDATH of Yahoo News reports that the Social Security Administration has released the top baby names for 2009 were Isabella and Jacob but are people naming their babies after vampires?
"Cullen is also part of a larger trend: two-syllable male names that end in the sound en. Aiden is another example (12th most popular name). So is Jayden (No. 8), Logan (No. 17), Nathan (No. 24), Kevin (No. 44), Justin (No. 46) and a name I'd never heard of before: Brayden. At No. 47, it means I'll probably start meeting a number of Braydens in about 20 years. Likewise, nearly half of the 50 most popular girl names end in the letter a, like Isabella. Why does this happen? Why do parents so often choose the same names for their newborns?" .

PENNSYLVANIA BONES MAY BE 19th CENTURY IRISH IMMIGRANTS WHO DIED
