"Dr. Edith Fiore reported in 1978 that some of her subjects ventured into the interim between lives to find "pure energy and light" while others saw "beautiful lakes, beautiful scenes, gleaming cities"

There was also mentions of encounters with "planners" or a "board of advisers" who assisted in the choice of the next incarnation which, in some case, was preceded by the soul "hovering" over its mother before birth. In 1979, the results of mass hypnotic studies conducted by Dr. Helen Wambach, a San Francisco clinical psychologist, indicated that most people chose to be born even though they would rather remain in the "lightness and the love" of the between-life-state. Dr. Wamback's subjects told of having no gender in the place between lives and mentioned, in many cases, that they had agreed reluctantly to reincarnate after consultation with "advisers," "a board," or "a group of authorities."
