CAROL BOWMAN ON REINCARNATION : U TURN IN THE WOMB : MISCARRIAGE and STILL BIRTHS
Excerpts page 159 - 160 :
From our ordinary, earth-bound perspective these changes of plan are called by the medical terms miscarriage and stillbirth. Most people, if they have never been through the experience, can't understand how deeply the parents feel a miscarriage or a stillbirth as a death, an inexplicable loss that leaves them bereft and grieving for a child they never knew. Their beautiful hopes and dreams for loving companionship with the new baby evaporate. Adding to the pain, no matter what medical explanation is they inevitable blame themselves at some point, wondering what they did wrong.
Yet looking at miscarriage and stillbirths from the perspective of the incoming soul turns our thinking inside out. From the soul's perspective, a decision not to be born at that particular time and to a particular mother is simply a detour, a zigzag in the continuing journey through eons of lifetimes. Souls decide to switch course for any number of reasons; to change sex or birth order, to wait for a more appropriate body for the soul's purposes, to wait until the parent's circumstances improve or to readjust the timing of a predestined rendezvous with another soul already on Earth or yet to incarnate. Or it may be due to the biological fact that the fetus was defective.
Whatever the reason, it is clear that in some cases souls wait for another opportunity to return to the same family. How do we know? Because some children remember the whole process. Then one day, in the middle of a causal conversation, they tell their parents about it. They innocently describe earlier attempts to be born to the mother or through another woman in the extended family. The parents are always shocked at first if the child's claim corresponds exactly to a pregnancy loss that had been kept hushed up, a personal secret too painful to talk about, and something beyond the comprehension of such a very young child. But after absorbing the truth of what their child is telling them, their shock turns to joy and relief when they realize the baby who died in the womb years ago was not lost to them forever.

IS OUR LIFE ACTUALLY A DREAM? EXCERPTS FROM JIM TUCKER'S RETURN TO LIFE
EXCERPTS: 'Being open to the possibility of life after death naturally makes me curious about what it might involve. With the idea that the world exists as a shared dream, my thinking about it has changed. I no longer imagine that we go to another place when we die. Instead, we have another dream...(page 195)
...With the past life memories they reveal, the children in our case studies seem to be returning to the world in which they lived a previous life. A better way of describing this is to say that regardless of whether the children have an intermission experience, they fall back into the same dream they were in before ---- meaning this world. (page 200)
It's unclear how time would work across mind created worlds. It's easiest to conceptualize lifetimes as being sequential -- first I have one life, then another, then another -- but I don't know if that makes compete sense when the lives involve different dream worlds.... (page 207)

THE GHOST INSIDE MY CHILD : ANCESTRY WORSHIP - GENEALOGY BLOGSPOT FILM REVIEW
The title is bad. Wrong. These are not ghost stories. These are stories of children who have had spontaneous past life recall. The editing is overly sensational. I hate the close ups that reveal every pore. I hate the glowing red eyeballs. Really, the editing and production that was inclinded to raise the hair on our heads cheapened this series. I wasn't scared. Nor should you be.
Ignore all that. Reincarnation is natural. It's human nature.
And it's a message all of us who fear death need to hear.
This series features one interesting story after another, most of which include the parents or some other person doing research to verify that such a person existed. And no, for you skeptics, the girls don't all remember being Cleopatra and the boys don't all remember being Harry Houdini. Hey, some of these children are a different race, ethnicity, or gender this time around.
Remembrances in Season One and Two include, the memory of being a fighter pilot shot down during World War II, the memory of being a girl whose family was killed by Indians - later she was traded to a more peaceable tribe, the memory of a girl who died in Hollywood during the Silent Film era at age 14, an actress who probably died after an abortion - so many others!
In many cases, the children go to the place they remember living or dying, or at least a museum - which often helps them let go and get on with this life.
So, despite my recommendation - should anyone producing this series be reading - that you cut the silly boo-hooey - I suggest that watching this is worth your time and if you aren't familiar with reincarnation will be a wonderful introduction.

CHILDREN's PAST LIVES by CAROL BOWMAN on NIGHTMARES
How Past Life Memories Affect Your Child
by Carol Bowman
C 1997 by Carol and Steve Bowman
A Bantam Book
Some Children have NIGHT TERRORS... a series of sleep disturbance that is not in the same category as regular nightmares. "In a typical night terror episode, the child screams, thrashes about, and may even walk or run around and get violent, all while appearing to be awake. But afterwards, unlike a nightmare, the child has absolutely no memory of the incident and no dream story that might explain the bizarre behavior. This alone makes night terrors extremely difficult to treat. Scientists have no satisfactory explanation for what causes night terrors and no reliable remedy. But they do know that they occur during the deepest sleep cycle, and that they commonly begin between the ages of three and four, and fade by thee ages of five or six.
Since we know know that some nightmares have a past life cause, it makes sense that some night terrors would too. Perhaps during deepest sleep, a state furthest from waking consciousness, these children are being terrorized by vivid memories of a past life trauma. I think it's significant that night terrors occur at the same ages when children are most likely to have spontaneous past life memories...

REVISITING HENRY LOUIS GATES JR. and FINDING YOUR ROOTS
PBS HENRY LOUIS GATES JR. FINDING YOUR ROOTS
I'm rewatching beginning with Season One. LOUIS HENRY GATES Jr., who I respect, says that about ten percent of contemporary Black Americans have ancestors who were Free Persons of Color - not slaves.
I had one client whose New Orleans heritage took us to Free Persons of Color ancestors. The reaction was a subtle disbelief at my research, as I showed them that their people had been part of a thriving crafts and tradesman community in which people lived in beautiful houses - some on tours today.
Who is or is not Black?
What is the difference between the White actress who most relates to her most recent Jewish heritage though she's got White Anglo Saxon heritage that goes back to King Henry the First of England, basically "feeling" herself Jewish" and someone whose appearance would not lead the average person to guess they have Black Heritage or someone whose DNA proves they are just a little bit African, but who most relates to contemporary Black culture?
In genealogy we search for documents.
But people often feel themselves to be most comfortable with one culture - including religion and spirituality - over another. I sometimes think this has to do with past life memories, which I realize is controversial. But through reincarnation we can experience what it is to live in different cultures, to be Japanese in the 14th century, or to have fought in the Civil War in this country for the Confederates.
As a result of reading hundreds if not thousands of documents as well as reading around American history, and my belief that reincarnation is real, I may have a different feeling about my own life and that of others.
We must ask ourselves WHY are we here in this life? What have we brought forward from the past, what have we learned, where do we want to go?

LIFE TIMES by FREDERICK LENZ : ANCESTRY WORSHIP GENEALOGY BOOK REVIEW
Some wonder if perhaps they have reincarnated into the same family or if their soul was once embodied by a great grandparent or other ancestor.
Why do we meet someone and have emotions about them that make no sense such as feeling instant empathy for them or greatly disliking them?
If you read around reincarnation hoping to encounter more fascinating or even stunning stories, you may find a few in Frederick Lenz's Life Times : True Accounts of Reincarnation. A small collection of testimonials in this book are in the category of spontaneous recall, a category that does not require hypnotic regression and seems to me to be the most creative and thus unbelievable. There's a bit about Buddhism and Hinduism here too and the beliefs that are more alike than not. Since I know a bit more than the author when it comes to the belief in karma, let's just say that the author's understanding is not complete and I sense this book was intended to be a short one so there wouldn't be room for that explanation anyway...
For purposes of this blog, which I long ago promised to be a bit unconventional and spiritual, I think my readers would most be interested in defining Twin Souls, Soul Mates, and Karma-Connected Souls. The words karma and soul mates have entered our American vocabulary and are used by those who are not Buddhist, Hindu or who are ignorant of their meaning. I'll paraphrase:
Twin Souls: People with similar talents or interests who have incarnated with each other for many lifetimes or who are joined by experiences they shared. They are not necessarily compatible but may enjoy their time together inventing, learning, collaborating on a project. (page 130)
Soul Mates: Feeling magnetically drawn to a person is an indication that you actually had a close personal relationship in another life time(s), and implied that this was romantic. "It would appear that one can have more than one soul mate, and that soul mates can be of either the same or the opposite sex." (page 135)
Karmic Connection: "Karmically connected souls are persons whose karma (actions) have temporarily joined them, until such time as their actions together have been completed. The link between karmically connected individual s is not so highly developed as the bonds between twin souls or soul mates." (page 145)

FEELING YOURSELF TO BE OTHER THAN YOUR DNA ETHNICITY OR CURRENT FAMILY GROUP
I consider that memories from other lives, DNA, and other factors may result in feeling yourself to be, say Greek, rather than Irish. There are people who have never felt they belonged to the family they know though they certainly were born to the parents they have.
ASK YOURSELF HOW ALIKE OR DIFFERENT YOU ARE FROM THE STEREOTYPES OF AN ETHNICITY. What ethnicity were you raised to be part of?
DO YOU LIKE FOOD THAT IS OUTSIDE OF YOUR CULTURE OF ORIGIN OR UPBRINGING?
DO YOU SEEM TO GRAVITATE TO OTHERS FROM ANOTHER CULTURE, feeling more comfortable with them?
Multiculturalism is apparent in so many countries, especially the United States and Europe, and it brings challenges but also some wonderful sharing.

SOUL SURVIVOR book ABOUT REINCARNATION - GENEALOGY TYPE RESEARCH USED TO VERIFY
The devout Christian father had issues with the very idea of reincarnation, but slowly he became convinced as he decided to apply research methods to the many small comments that his son, beginning at about age 2, made. Little James knew planes and plane parts, but he also named some of the men he was associated with back in the day as well as the name of the body his soul inhabited in the last. And so Bruce attempted to get military records (but ran into the problem of not being a family member), contacted men who remembered the pilot, met with them (claiming he was only writing a book, though as we see he eventually did), and discovered that these old veterans were not as dismissive as he feared. The story is interesting and convincing and Leininger and his wife (James' mom) Andrea, along with Ken Gross, manage to build their story so that you too will feel no stone was left unturned!

MEDICAL GENEALOGY - KEEP THOSE DEATH RECORDS IN PERSPECTIVE
Recently I was researching for someone who has a once in a life time opportunity to tour a European country with a church group. He and his wife plan to depart from the group and spend about a week touring through ancestor homelands. He lost a young son to colon cancer a few years ago and then was diagnosed with it himself and is surviving. I'm thrilled that he will be well enough to go on this trip. So I went ahead and, beginning with his father, verified which of several candidates with a fairly common surname in a small region of a particular state was his, found his father on census records, and discovered that his grandfather, who had died before he was born, had gone through an evolution of given names, which is making finding him coming in on a steamship or naturalization records that will tell me the name of the town his grandfather left over a hundred years ago a little bit tricky. Currently I have a declaration of intent that might be his, but no completion of citizen ship documented.
I went ahead and got the death certificate for his grandfather and from the information printed on it by the attending doctor, there was a description of lesions on the colon. (The word cancer was not used.) Tears sprung from my eyes at the realization that there is a familial aspect to this cancer.
The reasons why someone dies...
I recently listened to an audiobook by a popular author who does some hypnosis to help people heal from trauma, including the trauma of their previous deaths and violent experiences, such as rape, loosing limbs, car accidents, death in childbirth. Hearing a long list of reasons why, I was reminded of all the death certificates I've seen. Some of them come with oral histories from the family, for instance a carpenter who burned up in a fire. The doctor noted his whole body was burned. The family says he was the victim of arson by the mob. Reading the death certificate I would not know that, and I may check some newspaper databases to see if there is any mention of the fire - or the mob.
One adoptee I know has made medical decisions based on the fact that breast cancer is rampant in her birth mother's line, which she would not know without having found her and done the genealogy.
